Current Summary of Changes:
Law File Changes - October 2003
Note: Laws added to the file since the last posting in August, 2003 begin with relative address/law ordinal 6954. Be aware, however, that changes/corrections have been made to existing laws. A summary is shown below, but may not be complete. We recommend that, if possible, you completely overwrite the existing law file with the new one.
Criminal Sexual Act: Chapter 264 of 2003 eliminates references to "sodomy" or "deviate" sexual acts in the penal law, and instead creates the offense of "Criminal Sexual Act." Many laws were repealed as a result of these changes, including: 2075-2082, 2657, 2721, 5879, 5916, 6167, 6168, 6296-6300, 6305, 6306, 6309-6312, 6500-6504, 6518, 6519, 6702. ( Review the new ordinals added since the last posting for the new sex offenses.)
VTL Changes: A repeal date was updated to law ordinals 5413, 5674, 6634. VT code 375411 is now associated to ordinal 6994, and VT code 3853A is now associated to ordinal 6999. Literals were changed on 1192(6), ordinals 6938, 6939, 6940. (Also review the new ordinals added since the last posting for VTL updates.)
UCR/IBR Changes:
The IBR code for ordinals 6943 through 6953 (Unlawful Surveillance laws) was
changed from 90Z to 90H.
Other Law Changes:
Law descriptions were modified on ordinals 758, 1639, 5279, 3175.
Note:
The legislature passed new laws relating to the use of indoor pyrotechnics without
a permit: PL 405.12, PL 405.14, PL 405.16, and PL 405.18. These laws take effect
on November 1st, but could not be updated to the DCJS file at this time due
to a technical problem. They should be on file within two weeks.
