Current Summary of Changes to the Coded Law File

Law File Changes – February 2012

Note: Laws added to the file since the last posting on August 24, 2011 begin with relative address/law ordinal 8150. Be aware, however, that changes/corrections have been made to existing laws. A summary is shown below, but may not be complete. We recommend that you overwrite the existing law file with the new one. 

Most notable is the addition of the MCDV_charge_indicator added to the NYS Coded Law file.  This indicator was added to capture Misdemeanor Crimes of Domestic Violence pursuant to A 698-D.   

With this new posting, a new file format is available to replace the legacy mainframe flat file, the content however is based on our Oracle table as the mainframe law table no longer exists due to the decommissioning of our mainframe.

Legislation:

A 7917-D; AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to the requirement of exercising due care in the operation of a motor vehicle.  This act shall be known and may be cited as the “Hayley Ng and Diego Martinez law.”  Relates to the requirement of exercising due care in the operation of a motor vehicle to avoid colliding with any bicyclist, pedestrian or domestic animal.

S 1313-B; AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to establishing the offenses of patronizing a prostitute within one thousand feet of school grounds and promoting prostitution within one thousand feet of school grounds.  The penal law is amended by adding a new section 230.03.

S 2769-B; AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to approaching a parked, stopped or standing hazard vehicle on the shoulder of a highway. Provides standards of care to safely approach an emergency or hazard vehicle parked, stopped or standing on the shoulder of a highway.

Modified ordinal 7438; A correction was made changing the IBR code to 13A from 90Z
