Current Summary of Changes to the Coded Law File

Law File Changes – August 2011
Note: Laws added to the file since the last posting on December 31, 2010 begin with relative address/law ordinal 8133. Be aware, however, that changes/corrections have been made to existing laws. A summary is shown below, but may not be complete. We recommend that you overwrite the existing law file with the new one. 

Legislation:

S 1882: An ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to sexual abuse of a person under the age of thirteen.  Provides that sexual contact upon a person under the age of 13 by a person 21 years of age or older shall be sexual abuse in the first degree. Sexual abuse in the first degree is a class D felony.
Effective 11/1/2011

S 2143-D: An Act to amend the penal law, in relation to establishing the crime of assault on a judge.  The penal law is amended by adding a new section 120.09. Assault on a judge is a class C felony.
Effective 11/17/2011

S 2510-B: An ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to obstructing governmental duties by means of a bomb, destructive device, explosive, or hazardous substance. The penal law is amended by adding a new section 195.17. Obstruction of governmental duties by means of a bomb, destructive device, explosive or hazardous substance is a class D felony.

S 3237–A:  An ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to increasing certain penalties for violating the prohibition of animal fighting. Violating the prohibition of animal fighting is a class B misdemeanor.

S5623: An ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to the crime of promoting prostitution in the fourth degree; includes the act of distributing obscene material or material that depicts nudity if such distribution is done with intent to advance or profit from prostitution. Promoting prostitution in the fourth degree is a class A misdemeanor.

S 5658: An ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to preventing prohibited persons (those convicted of felonies, serious offenses or have been certified not suitable to possess a rifle or shotgun) from lawfully possessing muzzle-loading or black powder rifles, shotguns, and firearms. Violation is a class A misdemeanor.

Modified to remove the special character '.' from the MINI_LAW_DESCRIPTION on ordinals: 6698, 6699, 6930, 6931, 6932, 7802, 7803, 7935, 7936, 7937, 7938, 7939, 7940, 7941, 7942, 7943, 7944, 7945

Modified the FULL_LAW_DESCRIPTION, MAXI_LAW_DESCRIPTION and EXPANDED_LAW_LITERAL on ordinal: 2590

Modified the LAW_DESCRIPTION on ordinals: 2561 & 2562
